November 19, Gust W. Anderson passed away at Center City after a lifetime of kindly service at the ripe age of 87 years. Although engaged in various activities since coming from Sweden to America in 1881, the greater part of his life was given to farming, here in Chisago County.
Mr. Anderson was born in Sweden, June 9, 1855.
In America, he worked on the railroads and in the coal mines of Pennsylvania. He devoted a year to that and then continued on west to St. Paul where he secured work in various occupations. Then he went to Colorado where he procured work as a miner.
Not long after, he returned to Minnesota and engaged in farming. It was in Chisago County that he took up farming, on a farm near Kost. He built his home there and continued in farming for 45 years.
Surviving him in this country are two nieces and nine nephews and a goodly number of friends.
The services were held at the Grandstrand Funeral Home at Center City on Sunday, November 22. The service was deeply moving and eloquent of the deep regard the departed had always inspired in all those who knew him. Rev. Wahlquist spoke beautifully and officiated.
Mr. Anderson was carried to his rest at Fairview Cemetery. By the following pallbearers: Alvin Carlson, George Carlson, Peter M. Swenson, Charley Abrahamson, John W. Engdahl, and Gust Lundell.
