Funeral services for Ernest Alexus Akerson, long time resident of Lindstrom who passed away at Rush City on Sunday, June 11, were held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday afternoon June 15.

Mr. Akerson was born on a farm one mile north of Lindstrom on Sept 19, 1873. His parents were John and Ann Akerson.

In the year of 1893 he graduated from the Metropolitan Business College of St.Paul, after which he was engaged with his brother in the hardware business in Stacy.

He married Adelia Magnuson on Sept 28,1899. His wife preceded him in death in 1943.

In 1899 he established Akerson Hardware, furniture and an undertaking business in Lindstrom, continuing his profession until 1903 when in partnership partnership with Mr. Lindstrom, he organized areal estate business. Two years later Messrs Lindstrom, Akerson and Hedberg established a similar business in the New York Life building in St.Paul. Mr. Akerson continued in the real estate business from 1903 until 1934 until his health forced his retirement.

Mr. Akerson had reached the age of 76 years, 8 months and 22 days. He had suffered much through the years of prolonged illness, but through out all was patient and uncomplaining.

Using the text, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous from Psalm 34 verse 19, Rev Haller spoke of "The great trials of the departed one and of his faith are trust in the Lord, which helped him bear his afflictions."

Mr A. F. Oberg sang two beautiful hymns,"In the garden and The Old Rugged Cross." He was accompanied by Mrs Ina Haker.

Mr. Akerson is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Eleanora Wahlgren and one grandson, Allan Wahlgren Jr.

The pallbearers were Charles Borup, A. T.Malmberg, Oscar Herberg, Frank Victor, Hjalmar Hawkinson and N.O. Johnson.
