Elmer Grant is the given name for this person, not Elmer GORDON [RJC: correction made]. He is my grandfather's younger brother, and I am interested in providing you with any information that you need to make this correction. The family bible provides the birth name and date. Incidentally, his parents named him Grant Elmor, but I'm satisfied to make the correction to Elmer Grant, as that is what he was known by.

Forest Lake Times, Thursday, February 9, 1967:

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Faith Lutheran Church in Forest Lake for Elmer G. Abrahamson, 68, of Forest Lake. The Rev. Frank A. Johnson officiated at the services at two o'clock. Soloist Mrs. Kenneth Barrott of Shafer sang two hymns, "Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour" and "Beautiful Saviour". E.A. Raymond was the organist. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom. Elmer Grant Abrahamson was born in Raymond on January 17, 1899, the son of the Alo Abrahamsons. His early life was spent in the Raymond area until he joined the U.S. Navy in the early twenties. In Lindstrom, he built a blacksmith business into the General Safety Equipment Corp., a concern building fire apparatus, which earned the Army-Navy "E Award for Excellence" in furnishing trucks for the war effort during World War II. The award was presented by Minnesota's Governor Edward J. Thye in ceremonies held at Lindstrom. In 1951 the firm, now doing a nation-wide business, moved to larger quarters in North Branch where Mr. Abrahamson continued as the owner and president until the time of his death. In Forest Lake, he was a faithful member of the Faith Lutheran Church. An ardent outdoorsman he spent many happy days during the latter years, in semi-retirement, at a summer home on the Lake of the Woods, Sioux Narrows, Ontario, Canada. On January 26 he made his last trip to this beautiful spot. Six days later on February 1 he passed away there from an apparent heart attack. Left to mourn his passing are his wife and two daughters by a previous marriage; There are twelve grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and a sister. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother Grant and two sisters -- Miss Emma Abrahamson of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Hildred Haferman of Lindstrom.
