Johanna Abraham buried Saturday

Funeral services were held at 2 pm last Saturday, April 6th at Trinity Lutheran Church for Mrs. Johannna Abraham, one of its charter members, residing 6 miles southeast of Lindstrom who died April 2nd at the age of 91 years and 17 days. Mrs. Abraham's death occurred at the St. Croix Memorial Hospital were she had been during the past 3 weeks. Infirmities of advance age was given as the cause of her demise.

The deceased is survived by the following 4 daughters and one son namely; Mrs. Walter (Winnie) Nelson and Mrs. Elliot (Esther) Nelson of Shafer, Mrs. Clifford (Inez) Holtand Mrs. Ray (M) Holmgren of Taylors Falls and Irving Abraham of Lindstrom. Other children who have passed on were a son Carl who died five years ago, Louella, (Mrs. John (Lillian) Peterson, Amy and a daughter who died in infancy. Her husband Mr.Jacob Abraham died in 1941. Mrs. Abraham also leaves a sister, Esther Slattengren at the Lutheran Home for the Aged in Chisago City.

Mrs. Johanna Abraham, whose maiden name was Johanna Slattengren, was born in Franconia township March 15, 1866, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ola Slattengren. Her birthplace is known as the old Frank Slattengren farm named after her brother. She attended the schools of the community, became a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Lindstrom and was member of the Ladies Aid and church work years ago. In 1889 she married Jacob Abrahamson and then settled on a farm nearby to her birthplace, remaining there the rest of her life. She raised a fine family, had many friends and was well known and revered in the community.

Officiating at the services was Rev. Carl Almer, assisting at the organ was Mrs. Phillip Lindblom with Mrs. Ruth Jonason soloist. Pallbearers were the following: Kermit Thalenhorst, Arnie Holmgren, Elmer Bloom, Edwin Alm, Walter Hall and Walter Ogren. Interment took place at Fairview cemetery.

Johanna was born in Chisago Co., MN to Olof / Ola (Jonsson) Slattengren (1827-1915) and Catharina / Katrina (Pehrsdotter) Slattengren (1830-1918). Her family immigrated in 1854 to Andover, IL and then came to Chisago in 1856. Johanna died in St. Croix Falls, WI.
