Samuel Anderson was one of our old settlers here, having lived here for 40 years. When he first came to this country from Sweden he went to Helena, MT, making the long and dangerous journey by team, there being at that time no railroads west of St.Paul. Mr. Anderson was somewhat of an adventurous mind and having heard of the gold rush in Helena, joined the good many other miners to seek his fortune. He was successful and in Helena it was where he really got his start in life.
He returned to Chisago Lake for a few years but went back to Helena several times. He had however, practically been making his home in Lindstrom on the well known Sam Anderson farm which adjoins the village limits.
Mr. Anderson was married twice and is survived by the following children: George Anderson of Portland, OR, Albert Anderson of Bridgeport, Canada, Mrs. Alice Dahl, Shafer, MN, Mrs. Lillie Hemquist, Shafer, MN, Mrs. Ida Johnson, Helena, MT, Fritlof Anderson, Shafer, Mrs. Amanda Hanson, Helena, MT, Emil Anderson, Portland, OR, Claus Anderson, Lindstrom, Mrs. Hilda Dahl, Fargo, ND and Ernest Anderson of St. Cloud, MN.
The funeral will most likely be held next Sunday afternoon from the residence ,Dr. Oslund of Center City officiating in interment will be held at Fairview cemetery.
