NEWTON - Effie Kiser Yoder, 100, of Newton, died Sunday, Aug. 17, 2008, at Carrillon Assisted Living in Newton. Born July 17, 1908, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late George Kiser and Minnie Huffman Kiser. She was a member of Burke Chapel United Methodist Church in Hickory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Yoder; three sons, Jay Yoder, Harold Yoder and Ray Yoder; a grandson, Tony Yoder; four sisters; and five brothers. She is survived by two daughters, Kathleen Yoder Weaver and Rachel Yoder Elliott, both of Hickory; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Zona Kiser Eller of Salisbury; a brother, George Kiser Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Icard; and a sister-in-law, Edna Kiser of Hickory. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at Burke Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Neal Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at the church. Pallbearers honoring Mrs. Yoder will be Ronnie Weaver, Jeff Elliott, Michael Elliott, Clay Hamlet, Larry Isenhour, Steve Isenhour, Jason Yoder and David Moses. Memorials may be made to Burke Chapel United Methodist Church, 6350 George Hildebran School Road, Hickory, N.C. 28602. Condolences may be sent to the Yoder family at www.drumfuneralhome.com. The Yoder family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
