In 1937 when Margaurite was sixteen her mother died. Margaurite stepped in and raised her three brothers, the youngest just over a year of age.
For a short time she worked in St. Louis before marrying Russell Monie in October 1948. The young couple lived in Fredericktown, MO and later settled in Flat River, MO. Two sons completed their family. Her father joined the family in later years.
Joy was always reflected in her face when seeing her sons and grandsons. Margaurite was a whiz at growing plants and flowers, often buying a bedraggled plant at the store to nurture to health. A favorite pastime was playing solitaire on a wooden lapboard in her living room. She was an excellent letter writer and several people saved every letter she wrote to them. During the year she would scrimp and save for the holidays; showering her family with gifts made her happy. She was always ready to go out to eat, more so if it was Kentucky Fried Chicken!
Margaurite is survived by two sons and their families, two brothers, four grandsons and one great-grandson as well as extended family. One brother, John Samuel Forsyth preceded her in death. Visitation will be held at Caldwell Funeral Home at 5PM on October 27, 1993. Funeral services will be on Thursday, October 28, 1993 at the Caldwell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is in Marcus Memorial Cemetery, Fredericktown, MO next to her father.
