Corine died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at Wheatcrest Hills of Britton. Corine Gertrude Foss was born Dec. 5, 1916, on a farm near Christine, N.D., to Robert and Rena (Kragness) Foss. She grew up there and attended rural country school near Christine. She graduated from Christine High School in 1933. Corine continued her education at Valley City, N.D., where she attended college and received her teaching credentials. Corine taught country school in the Christine area and later took a teaching position in Havana, N.D. On Sept. 17, 1941, Corine married Earl Jacob Parrow at Britton. They made their home in Havana. Corine taught for a short time before their children were born and returned to teaching from 1957 to 1964. At that time, Corine became a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. Earl passed away on May 27, 1998, and Corine continued to live in Havana. In June 1999, she moved to Britton, and into Spruce Court in 2005. Corine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Havana and had been active in the Ladies Aide. She had also belonged to a homemakers' club while living in Havana. In her younger years, Corine enjoyed gardening, reading, quilting and playing cards, especially canasta. Although afflicted with failing eyesight and severe rheumatoid arthritis, Corine remained amazingly independent and seldom complained about her health. Corine is survived by her children: Janet (Dennis) Hansen, of Plymouth, Minn., Robert Parrow, of Britton; five grandchildren: Michelle Hansen, Mark (Janet) Hansen, Brian Hansen, Paula Hansen and Sean Parrow; and one great-grandson, Nolan Hansen. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband and a daughter-in-law, Patricia "Patty" Parrow.
