Lena Viola Carter Cole, 92 passed away at her home August 02, 1982 daughter of Jessie Marshall & Effie Derinda Rippetoe Carter, was born near Iconium, Missouri on July 22, 1890. She became a member of the Osceola Baptist Church at an early age and maintained her membership there throughout her life. She was a loyal worker in the church as long as her health permitted.

On December 25, 1910, she was married to Burlie Sheldon Cole. To this union were born seven children: Ray S., Everett V., Juanita, Paul M., Merle, Idaleen, and Roy. Preceding her in death were Everett Cole and Mrs. Idaleen Walters.

Mrs. Cole was a loyal member of Royal Neighbors of America and of the the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program. Here special interest was sewing, and in addition to many years of dressmaking, she made toys for the volunteer program and pieced many quilts for her family.

Mrs. Cole spent her entire life was spent in St. Clair County, except for a few years work in Kansas City. She was a member of Osceola Baptist Church from an early age and was a faithful worker. As a devoted Mother, accomplished in sewing, and in serving others, she was tireless.


Survivors are her four sons, one of Treasure Island, Florida, two of San Pedro, California, one of Bismarck, North Dakota; and one daughter of Clinton, Missouri, two sisters, one of California and one of Kansas City, Missouri, 23 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
