Came to America in April 1883 and he was naturalized in 1888. However, in all searches, George does not show up in the 1880 census. In the 1900 census, he is listed as a "Fireman". In the 1910 census, he is listed as a "Water tender at a Blast Furnace". George worked at a factory -- Standard Oil -- just down the street from where he lived. The factory was on the Cuyahoga River, in the flats. He would walk to work every day. The reason we list him as being born in County Louth is letters sent to the United States from Ireland from George's brothers and sisters specifically. According to the 1900 census, George owned the house at 39 Herschel Street, free of mortgage. He was listed as being able to read, write and speak English. This Herschel Street address (which we visited while on a visit to Cleveland for the Koehl wedding in 2002) is now 2330 West 5th Street. It was converted to this address in the Cleveland switch in 1906. Later on, the Brady's moved to another home in the neighborhood -- 1015 Starkweather Ave. This family's life seemed to have revolve around the Tremont neighborhood Catholic Church --- St. Augustines, which still stands today. It says it was founded in 1856.
