A former Lake Odessa resident, Clare G. Bigelow, 81, of Midland, died at Traverse City Thursday morning after a lengthy illness. Born in Grand Blanc, April 11, 1886, he was the son of George and Alma Allen Bigelow. He was employed in supervision at Oldsmobile plant in Lansing 27 years until his retirement in 1946.

In 1948 they moved from Lansing to Lake Odessa and in 1964 moved to Midland. He was a life member of F & AM of Lansing and the Outdoor club of Oldsmobile, member of Executive club and Quarter century club also of Lansing. While in Lake Odessa he attended Central Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife Verda; one daughter Mrs. Elton McConnell of San Francisco, Calif., a stepdaughter, Mrs. Harry Walker of Midland; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Myrl Coe of Fenton and a brother, Maynard of Flint.

The body is at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa where services will be Saturday at 2 pm with Rev. Luther Brokaw of Ionia and Rev. Martin Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
