Irvine Fain Russell was the eleventh child of thirteen to be born to Joseph Hooker Russell 1808 – 1873 and Mary Ann Roach 1810 – 1860. His siblings were: James Howery Russell 1832, he married Mary "Besty" Jones 1830; William Alexander Russell 1834; John Alfred Russell 1836 – 1857, John went to California, where he died; Robert Patton Russell 1838 – 1873, he married Laura McDuff , he died in California; Samuel Richardson Russell 1840 – 1863, he married Nancy Williams ; Nancy Jane Russell 1842 – 1916, Benjamine F Allison; Joseph Theodore Russell 1844 – 1867, he married Elizabeth Norman ; Hugh Walker Russell 1845 – 1922, he married Fannie D. McANALLY ; Mary Frances Russell 1847 – 1922, she married Andrew J. Webster; Susan Russell 1849 – 1850; Margaret Louvenia Russell 1853; Sarah Elizabeth Russell 1855.

On Dec. 4, 1873, Irvine Fain Russell married Lurana Courtney. From this marriage nine known children entered the world. They were: Robert Nathaniel Russell 1874 – 1941, he married Katie Leannah Courtney; Arminda Russell 1875 – 1961, she married James Draper; Dollie Russell 1877; Matilda "Tilda" F. Russell 1880 – 1961, she married Marian Cobb; Lucy May Russell 1882 – 1912, John Taylor; William Russell 1884; Vinie Russell 1886 – 1930, George M Freeman; Alma Russell 1892; and Bertha Russell 1894.

1n 1880, Irvine and Lurana were living in a house next door to her parents and working as a farm hand. Lurana had already given birth to their first four children.

In 1900, they were still living in the same house, but by now Lurana father was dead, and they owned the farm and houses, Her mother was still living next door.

In 1920, Irvine was widowed and he had 2 daughters and a sister-in-law living with him.

On July 12, 1921 Irvine passed away. He had lived on the same farm all of his married life.
