Obituary in Wenatchee World Aug 1916 - "Was Pioneer of this Valley".
They arrived in the valley on 12 Oct 1882. As this was nearly twelve years before the coming of the railroad, they came by wagon over the mountains from Ellensburg and down the Clockum. They brought with them the the lumber for their cabin. They located on homestead on what is now
Fifth St., just west of the city. They were the first white family to reach the valley. The had five children, their second daughter being the first white child born in this part of the valley. They started the construction of the Settlers Ditch to bring water down from the Squilchuck.

... Mrs.Meyer, whose maiden name was Belle Gerkin, was born in Christmas day 1863 in Athena, Oregon. Her mother and father were Oregon pioneers, having crossed the plains in a wagon in 1861. The mother died a month after the birth of Mrs. Meyer and her twin sister, now Mrs. Emma Cox of
Athena, Oregon.

At nineteen Belle was married to C. C. Rickman. After the birth of their first child they came to the valley. Mr. Rickman was killed on Clockum Creek by falling from a wagon in April 1897. The Rickman's had five children, Bernice (Mrs. Thomas), Ione (Mrs. Clare Bradford), Leonard,
Jessie and Grace.
After the death of Mr. Rickman she married C. C. Meyer on July 1, 1907. ...
