Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-9p.m.
today,Tuesday,Sept.22 and from 8a.m. until time of services
on Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith died Sunday,
Sept.20,2009, in Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov.!5,1921, in Jackson County to the late
Dillard and Lillie Gentry Hawkins. Mrs. Smith was a retired cafeteria worker at Dodson Branch Elementary School and a
member of Zion Church of Christ.
Her family includes four sons and daughters-in-law,
Jimmy and annette Smith, Richard and Wanda Smith, Eddie
and Shelia Smith and Terrill and Lisa Malone, all of
Cookeville, two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and
Buddy Gaw of Cookeville and Shirley Jordan of Dayton, Ohio,
four brothers and three sister-in-laws, Kinner and Norma Hawkins of Cookeville, J.V. and Betty Hawkins of Oak
Ridge, Bill Fred Hawkins of Georgia and Ronel and Janice
Hawkins of Texas, two sisters, Navoy Cassetty of Gainesboro
and Harriette Coffer of Oak Ridge, eight grandchildren,
Matt and Jason Smith, Lisa Smith Slaughter, Donna Ford,
Kimberly Johnson, Allison Wilber,Katie Malone and Jamie
Moody, four great grandchildren, Ciera and Alexa Slaughter,
Jasi Lee Marie Smith and Cory Moody.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, Herman Cordell Smith, who died Jan.13,1963
(married Oct.31,1945), and two sisters, Daffo Hawkins West
and Agnes Hogg.
