He was the son of Philip Willcutt and Deborah (Coombs) (Sharpe) Gannett of Beechwood Street, Hingham (became Cohasset in 1775). Jesse married Lois, the daughter of Jonathan and Susannah (Lane) Studley. Lois died in 1808. Jesse was a master mariner. He was constable in 1769. He taught navigation school in Beechwood during the winter of 1806-7. He later removed to Goshen, Massachusetts where he died 8 Aug 1815, aged 85 years.
