Henry Ungersma married on 8 February 1927 at the age of 19 years in Manhattan, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana, to the one year younger Jennie Karp, born in the Dutch northeastern province Groningen, where the Ungersmas had their roots too.

In 1940 farmer Henry Jr, 32 years aged, lived with his wife Jennie (30 y) and the children Thelma C Ungersma (13), H[enry] Eugene (9), Faye E[llen] (5) and Myrna M[axine] Ungersma (3) in a rented home in the Dutch settlement Holland, near Amsterdam, in Gallatin County, not faraway from and northwest of Yellowstone National Park. Later on their son Robert Duana was born. In 1930 the couple lived also in Gallatin County, with their daughter Thelma C.
