San(d)ford Hatch was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Hatch and was born on July 15, 1861. When Sanford was only eleven yrs old his father died, and the responsibility of taking care of a family of six children became his. At the age of sixteen he joined a logging crew and remained at the occupation for several years. He then conducted a blacksmith shop in Princeton for four years and was a mail carrier for eight years. He later moved to Oak Park, where he conducted a farm until five years ago, when he returned to Princeton.

Mr. Hatch was married on July 4, 1886 to Ida Applegate. To his union was born one daughter. On December 6, 1898 a few years after the death of his wife, Mr. Hatch was united in union to Laura Randall. Three of the five born to this union died in childhood.

Besides his wife, who lives in Princeton, Mr Hatch leaves one daughter, Mrs. William Peterson of Duluth, two sons, Robert of Foley and Arthur of Hillman, and one sister Mrs. Elvira Nordam of Milaca. He also had nine grandchildren.
