Royal F. Campbell, 78, of Houston, died June 1, 2003 at Katy Memorial Hermann Hospital. Roy was born on August 10, 1924 in Bennington, Oklahoma. He served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II and is a graduate of Southeastern State University of Oklahoma where he met and married Mary Elizabeth Moore. Roy and Mary celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last week. He retired from Exxon Oil Company after 30 years, but he continued to work with Inexco Oil Company and retired from there in 1986. He was active in community affairs having served on the board of American Little League Association and Community Civic Association. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen and an active member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband and father and a loyal friend. He deeply touched the lives he came in contact with and will be forever missed.

Roy was preceded in death by his son, Royal Frederick Campbell II (Ricky), and is survived by his wife, Mary Campbell; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Beverly Campbell of Indianapolis, Indiana; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Patty Campbell of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Rhonda Campbell of Katy; granddaughters, Rebecca and Claire Campbell of Katy; grandson, Jacob Campbell of Houston; brother, Brigadier General Joe Campbell of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Billie Tate of Shreveport, Louisiana; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2003, at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive. Private interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
