Thelma was born on September 24, 1917 in Medina County, Texas to the late Armin and Emilie Bendele.
Thelma and her deceased husband Francis Koch moved to Round Rock in 1993 to be near their children because of his failing health.
Thelma was married to Francis on May 20, 1939, and was blessed with 55 years of marriage to Francis, who preceded her in death on January 7, 1995.
Thelma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She practiced her Catholic faith with fervor - going to Mass and Communion daily for many years and later in life viewing Mass on EWTN. Her daily prayer life included a rosary and chaplet. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society.
Thelma is also survived by her sons: Jon Koch and his wife Mary Jane; David Koch and his wife Patricia; daughter: Sharon Christiansen and her husband Robert; grandchildren: Michael Koch and his wife Angela, Karen Rathke and her husband Tim; Kathy Madden and her husband Steve; Garett Koch and his wife Mary Katherine; Jessica Daily and her husband Adam; Erich Koch and his wife Rachel; Emily Rodriquez and her husband Ruben; Matthew Christiansen and his wife Sarah; Paul Christiansen and his wife Keeli, and twenty-three Great Grandchildren.
Thelma's Interment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum in San Antonio, Texas, following a Funeral Mass at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, San Antonio, Texas, celebrated by Most Rev. John W. Yanta and con-celebrated by Msgr. Lawrence Stuebben. Prior to the Funeral, a Visitation will be held on July 19, 2011 - 6-8 p.m. at Beck Funeral Home, Round Rock, TX and a Rosary will be said at St. Mary Cathedral, July 20, 2011 - 6:30 p.m. at Austin, TX.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Michael Koch, Erich Koch, Matthew Christiansen, Paul Christiansen and nephews Armin C. Bendele and Walter Bendele. Family members participating in her funeral Mass service include Emily and Ruben Rodriquez; Karen Rathke; Hunter, Ben and Isabella Koch.
