Helen Ruth Crews Poole, age 92, of Jacksonville passed away August 22nd in McGraw Hospice Center after an extended illness. She was a native of Chatham County; had lived in Bacon County most of her life but had live in Jacksonville since 1999. Helen was daughter of the late Matthew James Crews and Nora Sullivan Crews; two sisters, Edith Bearden and Margaret Poole, two half sisters, Annie Mason & Stella Johnston and a half brother; Lloyd Crews preceded her in death. She was a member of Alma First Baptist Church, V.F.W. Axially and Grandmothers Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Poole Pratt of Jacksonville, FL, two grandchildren, Lenora Sullivan of Jacksonville, FL and Roy Pratt III of Waycross, two great-grandchildren, Kelly Brooke Sullivan and Kimberly Paige Sullivan of Ponte Vedra, FL niece in law, Barbara Poole, nephew, Stanley Sears of Oviedo, FL, niece, Cecilia Carson of Jacksonville, FL; also several cousins survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 3rd at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12:00 PM until funeral time.
Active pallbearers will be; Linton Carter, Gene Davis, Marlin Poole, Marvin Deen, Maynard Anderson and Ron Poole. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
