Emmie Marie "Tommy" Bird, 95, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011. Graveside service: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bedford Cemetery. Visitation: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road.
Tommy was born March 14, 1916, in Smithfield to the late W.O. and Sarah Brown. Tommy was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Edward Bird; her parents; granddaughters, Deborah Ann Brewer and Michelle Lee Brewer; grandson, Coltin Lane Hall; brother, D.C. Brown; and sister-in-law, Eunice Brown.
Survivors: Son, Charles E. Bird and wife, Leta; daughter, Joyce Lee; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
