In Memoriam
In memory of my grandmother Wilmouth Ruth Martin wife of the late James Martin who departed this life February 27, 1935, age 89 years. She was preceded in death by her husband 5 years previous.
Grandmother had been in declining health, had been blind for a number of years and died from infirmatives. It was so hard to stand by and see her suffer but we feel that our loss was her gain. She was a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church and was always delighted to attend church as long as her health would allow and after she was unable to attend Laurel Creek Church, she was proud to have the Brethren to come to her home and preach for her.
She was the mother of Ira D. Martin, Davy, W. Va.; Robert and Rufus Martin of Floyd County; Darius and Elkanoh P. Martin, whose whereabouts are unknown and several grandchildren.
She was buried in the Martin Cemetery near Laurel Creek in the presence of a large crowd considering the very rough weather.
The world may change from year to year
And friends from day to day
But never will the one we loved
From memory pass away.
Deep in our hearts, you're fondly remembered
Sweet happy memories cling around your name,
True hearts that loved you in life
Always will love you the same.
