A. Linton Sharpnack, 82 years, of McClellandtown, formerly of Greene County, died Thursday, February 18, 1960 in Uniontown Hospital. He had been ill two months. Mr. Sharpnack was a son of Levi and Elizabeth Jane Armstrong Sharpnack, and was born April 8, 1877, in Cumberland Township, but resided much of his life in McClellandtown. As a young man he taught in the Cumberland Township School system and later was a principal in the German Township system. He also was a farmer and road supervisor in German Township for many years and served as secretary to the German Township board of supervisors for 20 years. He was a member of the Church Hill Presbyterian Church at McClellandtown; of Franklin Grange No. 1169; of the McClellandtown Volunteer Fire Company; the Fayette County Firemen's Association, and the Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs Association of Fayette County. He served as chaplain of the Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association for 25 years. Mr. Sharpnack was also an officer of the Fayette County Muscular Dystrophy Association and a member of the Golden Age Club of Uniontown, and the McClellandtown Chapter of the Daughters of America. He was married three times. His first wife was Bertha Arnold of Clarksville, who is deceased. Two sons and one daughter were born to this marriage, all of whom are deceased. His secoond wife was Norma Zimmerman of Waynesburg, also deceased. In 1933, he married Mrs. Elizabeth Frank of Uniontown, who survives. Also surviving are two step-sons, Dr. James Zimmerman of Homestead, and Dr. Harvey Zimmerman of Harrisburg; four step-daughters, Mrs. Searight Stacey of McClellandtown; Mrs. Frank Lewis of Mt. Lebanon; Mrs. Edward Girard of Masontown, and Mrs. Carl Silbaugh of Uniontown; six step-grandchildren; four brothers, James C. Sharpnack of Washington; Charles E. Sharpnack of Oak Park, Ill.; Frank N. Sharpnack of Carmichaels, and L. Leslie Sharpnack of Carmichaels, and two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence W. Hartley of Letonia, Ohio, and Mrs. Louis Dulaney of Uniontown. A brother, Captain Lindsey Sharpnack, was killed in World War I.
