According to his Missouri death certificate:
He was born in Laclede Co, Mo, the son of John A. Johnson and Elizabeth McEnturf (probably should be McInturf).
He was married to Josie Pinkert, and was buried in Oak Forest Cem, Birch Tree, Mo.
His half-brother, Sterling Price Johnson was also buried in Birch Tree in 1913 and "C. Johnson" was the informant on the death certificate.
In 1850 Laclede Co, MO his father (John A. Johnson) had 2 unnamed little boys (age 2 & 4) with him and his (prob 2nd) wife.
In 1860 Knox Co, MO had
Johnson, John A - 36 Ky, basketmaker
. . . . . Elizabeth - 35 Ky
. . . . . William - 11 Mo (maybe this was Columbus)
. . . . . John - 9 Mo
In 1870 Columbus (21) was living in Laclede Co, Mo working in a sawmill in Osage twp.
He married Josie about 1876, not sure where.
In 1880 Columbus (31) and Josephine were living in Jersey Co, IL (20 miles north of St. Louis) where he was a farmer. They had a daug Annie age 2
In 1900 Columbus (51) & Josie were living in Birch Tree, Shannon County, Mo. with their daug and her family, near his mother Elizabeth and his brother, Sterling Price.
