Isaac Martinez Cuaron, Sr., 84, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Friday, August 12, 2011 at Memorial Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 28, 1926 in Doña Ana to Florencio and Refugia "Cuca" Martinez Cuaron.

Isaac served his country honorably in the United States Navy during World War II on the USS Pillsbury D133 in the North Atlantic; he was also a member of the National Guard with the 642nd Unit for ten years. Mr. Cuaron shared many stories about his years in the Navy with his grandsons and anyone willing to listen.

Isaac loved camping with his family and hunting with his sons. He retired from the International Boundary and Water Commission as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #3242. Isaac was a communicant at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral.

Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of sixty-two years, Mary Esther Cuaron of the family home; three sons, Isaac M. Cuaron, Jr and wife Vangie of Brazito, Richard H. Cuaron and wife Martha of Las Cruces, Rodney E. Cuaron of Phoenix, Arizona; two daughters Mary Ann Flores and husband Carlos of Las Cruces and Melissa Denise Cuaron of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers, Willie Cuaron and wife Estella of Doña Ana and Jack Cuaron and wife Tommie of Las Cruces; a sister, Nestora "Netty" Miller of Doña Ana. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, two great-great granddaughters as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Reuben Cuaron in 2010; two brothers and a sister.

Mr. Cuaron will be reposing from 5 PM to 7 PM Friday, August 19, 2011 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer. A Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 9:30 AM Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with the Reverend Ed Heidt officiating.

The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with military honors accorded by a United States Navy Honor Guard and the Marine Corps Leagaue-El Perro Diablo Detachment.

Serving as casket bearers will be Tom, Eric and Christopher Cuaron, Armando and Andrew Saenz, and Rodolfo Reyes, Sr. Honorary bearers will be Willie and Jack Cuaron, Tommy Vasquez, Lolo Montes, Tony Avalos, Michael Miller, Eric Chavez and all his great grandsons.
