Mrs. Geneve Whitteman Spruell of Graham has been advised by the War Department that her husband, Pfc. Doyce F. Spruell, 21, who was previously reported missing in action, had been killed in action in France on June 6, the day of the invasion. He was serving with the 501st Parachute Infantry. He was trained at Ft. Benning, Georgia and was stationed in England for some time prior to the invasion. Before entering the service, he was employed by the R.D. Cole Mfg. Co. Survivors in addition to his wife, daughter of C.A. Whittemore and the late Mrs. Mattie Roy Whittemore, of Graham, are his mother,
Mrs. Mary Spruell of Carrollton, Ca., and three sisters, Mrs. Kermit Cox, Mrs. Lon Messinger, and Mrs. Zack Davis all of Georgia.
