OBITUARY - ISABELLA SOPHIA ISLEY
"Isabella Sophia Isley was born on November 16, 1874 at Ontario, Canada, the oldest of seven children of John and Christina Isley. She was baptized there and moved to Hartley at about the age of 16 and made her with her parents. On April 15, 1888, she was confirmed at St. John's Evangelical Church in LeMars, Iowa.
She died on Sunday, October 30, 1955, at the McCroskey Nursing Home in Hartley at the age of 80 years, 11 months, and 14 days. She was sick for six years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Andrew and Oscar, and her sister Maria. She leaves to mourn her passing, three brothers; John of Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada, Fred of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Henry of Rochelle, IL, nephews and nieces, other relatives and many friends in Hartley.
She was a member of the Trinity church of Hartley for many years and a charter member of the Ladies Aid. At the time of the building of this sanctuary she gave one of the windows on the north side. She was a faithful member of the choir.
Her relatives and friends have established a memorial fund in her honor at the church, and a suitable gift will be dedicated at a later time.
Funeral services were held at Trinity church. Interment was made at the Pleasant View Cemetery. The Foley Funeral Home was in charge of the services."
