John A. Taft, 62, former resident of Elyria died after a short illness in Meridian, Mississippi, while enroute to Elyria from Houston, Texas, where he had been living for the past ten years. He is the son of I. H. Taft of this city.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Jacquelin Taft, one___ Alton Taft, of this city, his father and two brothers, Clarence E. Taft of Meridian, Mississippi and Claude A. Taft of Cincinnati and one sister, Mrs. Ed. Burroughs, of North Beach, Maryland.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

Sheffield, O., Dec 22--Many relatives and friends at- John Taft of Texas, at the Sudro undertaking parlors in Elyria on Thursday afternoon. Mr. Taft died at the home of his brother, Clarence Taft, in Mississippi last week while on his way to Elyria

He was born in Sheffield and spent nearly all his boyhood in Lorain County.

He leaves to mourn, his wife in Texas, one son, Alten Taft of Elyria; two brothers, Claude of Cincinnati and Clarence of Mississippi, on sister, Mrs. Bertha Burroughs of Washington, D.C.

He was laid at rest in Garfield Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Harvey, Percy, Herbert and Frank Chambers and John and William Morris.
