Chester P. "Chet" Acaley, 73, of Franconia Township, formerly of East Rockhill Township, died Thursday, Nov. 26, in Grand View Hospital, West Rockhill Township. He was the husband of Margaret (Bunge) Acaley. They were married for 48 years in June.
He taught instrumental music in the Pennridge School District for 32 years until retiring in 1985. His responsibilities included directing orchestra and stage bands, including the Pennridge High School Band. Previously, he taught music in Northumberland public schools for three years and in Lehighton public schools.
A 1950 graduate of West Chester University, he received a master's degree from Lehigh University in 1959.
Born in Minersville, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Chester and Carrie (Laudeman) Acaley.
He was a member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kellers Church.
A Coast Guard veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Coast Guard Combat Veterans.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose 1539, Sellersville, and its Retired Activities Club.
Also a member of the Perkasie Lions Club, he was president, 1971-72.
Survivors: Wife; daughter, Susan Orris of Hopkins, Minn.; son, Phillip B. of Lititz, Lancaster County, and two grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Call 9:45-10:45 a.m. Tuesday in church. Arrangements, Bernard Suess Funeral Home, Perkasie.
