Lester lived in Milwaukee for most of his life. He was an ambulance driver for a short time, but he quit because he couldn't take all of the kids getting hurt. He loved kids, so he became a crossing guard at a school. All of the children called him Grandpa Les, and when he passed away, the whole school and his friends and family were devastated. One class at the school he worked at named a star after Grandpa Les to honor his memory.
