Deceased Name: Leo Costello

Leo Francis Costello passed away Thursday, Aug.19, 2004, at his home in Morro Bay from complications related to prostate cancer.

A vigil service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at 4 p.m. at St. Timothy's Catholic Church of Morro Bay. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Hanford, Calif., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Hanford.

Leo was born March 13, 1926, in Cortland, N.Y., and graduated from Homer High School in 1943, where he excelled in basketball and trombone. He was an ensign in the U.S. Navy and earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Detroit, a law degree from Georgetown University and completed graduate MBA studies at the University of Santa Clara.

Leo married Nadine Rocha of Hanford on Jan. 29, 1955, at St. Therese's Catholic Church in Fresno. They also resided in Saratoga, Orinda, and Palos Verdes Estates.

For the past 50 years, Leo practiced patent, trademark, and copyright law with: Huebner and Worrel Law Firm of Fresno; FMC of San Jose; Kaiser Aluminum of Oakland; and Hughes Aircraft Company of Los Angeles, where he retired in 1986 as director of foreign licensing. Since 1994, he maintained a private law practice in Morro Bay, specializing in intellectual property. He was an active member of the Licensing Executive Society from 1970 to1986. Most recently, Leo was lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Timothy's Catholic Church.

Leo is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nadine; sons and daughters-in-law, Leo and Jacqueline of Madison, Conn., and Michael and Merrilee of San Luis Obispo, John of Fresno; and Kevin and Elizabeth of Stockton and grandchildren, Rose, Anna, Jeremy, Thomas, Stephen, Peter, John and Ashley.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anna, and baby twin sisters, Ann and Ellen.
