Sibyl Rudasill Epperson, age 88, of Rocksprings, entered into rest on July 28, 2006. She was born to Payne and Maude Rudasill on October 16, 1917, in Edwards County.
Sibyl graduated from South West Texas University in San Marcos, receiving her B. S. degree in 1940. She taught school in Rocksprings for 14 years. On April 12, 1942, Sibyl married James Everett Epperson in Camp Blanding, Florida. In 1945, they returned to Rocksprings to begin ranching.
Over the years, Sibyl was active in the community, and numerous organizations. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Merry Hearts Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Woman's Club, Legion Auxiliary, Music Club, Edwards County Hospital Board and Duplicate Bridge.
Sibyl enjoyed devoting much of her time helping to put together the Edwards County History Book in which she served as chairman. In 1986 Sibyl was crowned Edwards County Old Settlers Queen. Most recently, she volunteered at the Devils Sinkhole Society, and thoroughly enjoyed sharing stories with the visitors coming through Rocksprings.
Sibyl loved golfing, fishing, traveling, sewing, spending time visiting with family and friends, spoiling her granddaughters, and later her great grandchildren. Sibyl was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed life to the fullest, and no doubt has seen many changes throughout her 88 years. She didn't go through life without difficulty, loss or disappointment, but her strong will and character helped her persevere through many a hard time.
She was a lady in every sense of the word.
Sibyl is survived by her son, James E. Epperson, Jr., and daughter-in-law Darlene; granddaughters Shannon Maude Rust and husband Wade, Sheri Lynn Weathersbee and husband Martin, and Casandra Jost and husband Stuart; great-grandsons Mason and Payden Rust and great-granddaughters Cadence and Faith Jost, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Everett Epperson; parents Payne and Maude Rudasill; brother James Rudasill [Find A Grave Memorial# 15387011] and wife Myra Mae Rudasill [ Find A Grave Memorial# 15387023],
