Essie's mother then married John Barnett on November 9, 1892 in Eddy, Texas. Essie married Andrew Jackson Turvaville Sr. on April 28, 1906 and they had 9 children: Lowell Jackson, Roland Leroy, Mary Evelyn, Juanita, Ruth, Carl, Paul, Andrew Jr., & Jewell Turvaville. Essie broke her hip and lived in a nursing home in Chillicothe. She died of pneumonia.
