Edie married Lew Wasserman in 1936. Lew was the president and chief executive of MCA. She was well known for her charitable causes. The couple were also known for their fund raising for the Motion Picture Fund. They helped raise millions for the fund in the 1980's and did so again in 1998. The funds 40-acre Woodland Hills campus is named after the couple.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynne, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
