Rosary services were held on Sunday evening, April 13, at 8 p.m. from the Anderson Funeral Home for Mrs. Joseph Achter. Funeral services were held Monday, April 14, at 10:30 a.m. from the church of Seven Dolors in Millerville with Rev. Lawrence Botz officiating. Pallbearers were Raymond Linster, Fred Kuhn, Leander Stariha, Martin Wilm Al Lister, and Romeo Weatherhead. Interment was made inthe Seven Dolors cemetery.
Mrs. Michalena Achter was born in Leaf Valley township, Douglas county, Dec. 6, 1881, the daughter of John and Josephine Kott. She grew to womanhood on her parents' farm, and on Sept. 23, 1902, was united in marriage to Joseph Achter at Millerville. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Achter made their residence for a short time at Wahpeton, N.D., and then moved to Glenwood, Minn.
Mrs. Achter had been in ill health for many years and passed away Friday, April 11, 1958 at the age of 76 years, 4 months and 5 days. Surviving are her husband and five children; Mrs. Josephine Remley of Peoria, Ill.; Veronica (Mrs. Larry Dane) of Pine City; Stephen Achter of St. Paul; Mrs. Lucille Remley of Alhoa, Wash., and Marvin Achter of Glenwood. Also surviving her are 13 grandchildren and six sisters: Caroline (Mrs. John Linster) of Millerville; Frances (Mrs. John Klein) of Minneapolis; Clara Kott of Hollywood, Calif.; Anna Laville of Hollywood, Calif.; Katherine Connors of Hollywood, Calif.; Mrs. Josephine McDonald, also of Hollywood; and three brothers: George Kott of Alexandria; John Kott of Portland, Ore.; and Victor Kott of Milwaukee, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
