Florence Louise Methvin, 98, of Palatka, died Monday, February 24, 2003 at Palatka Health Care Center.
She was a native of Powder Springs, Ga., and had been a resident of the Palatka area since 1944, coming from Hastings. While she lived in Americus, Ga., she transported children to and from school in a horse-drawn buggy. She was a Jehovah's Witness and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, D. W. Methvin; a son, Charles D. Methvin; a daughter, Ruth McCollum; five brothers and a sister. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Wanda E. Methvin, Bunnell; two daughters and a son-in-law, Julia DeRay, Middleburg; and Lorene and Jasper Ballard, North Carolina; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity. No calling hours scheduled. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 26 at Oak Hill East Cemetery with James Methvin officiating. Masters Funeral Home of Palatka is in charge of arrangements.
