James was born October 8, 1974 in Richlands, Va., a son of Clarence and Lissie Hicks Bailey. He was employed by the McDowell Ambulance Authority. He enjoyed his work and his two children. He was a happy person and enjoyed life. He liked putting smiles on peoples' faces, and was of the Baptist faith.
James is preceded in death by his grandparents, John Redford Hicks and Charlie and Dora Bailey.
Survivors include two children, Phillip James Bailey, and Izabella Faith Bailey, both of Charleston; his wife, Heather Bailey, also of Charleston; his parents, Clarence and Lissie Bailey, both of Bradshaw; two sisters, Pamela Bailey Mullins of Bradshaw, and Keisha Bailey Rife of Jolo; one brother, Russell Bailey and wife Stephanie of Bradshaw; maternal grandparent, Mealie Hicks of Grundy, Va.; two nephews, Nicholas Bailey and Nathan Bailey, both of Bradshaw; three nieces, Brianna and Alexis Bailey, both of Bradshaw, and Shayna Day of Jolo; and a host of additional family, friends, and coworkers to mourn his loss.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 1 o'clock with Elder David Hicks and Elder Willard Hicks officiating at the Bradshaw Fire Department. Burial will follow in the James R. Hicks Cemetery at Paynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be member of the EMS, fire department, and law enforcement officers.
Friends may visit with the family after 6 p.m., Saturday evening, September 11, 2010 at the Bradshaw Fire Department in Bradshaw, where evening services will be conducted at 7 p.m.
