Isaac Earl Webb, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in Rio Rancho at the age of 86. He was born February 4, 1922 in Pinedale, Arizona to the late Clark and Hilda (Cluff) Webb, the twelfth of 14 children. He completed his public schooling in Pinedale, Snowflake and Mesa Arizona. In the early 1940s Earl served as a missionary for the LDS church in the Western States Spanish American Mission. Upon his return, he served in the Navy as a Gunner and Radio Operator. Mr. Webb studied education at Arizona State University and Brigham Young University, where he received his BA in 1949. In 1961 he also earned a Masters of Education from Utah State University in Logan, Utah. While attending BYU he met and fell in love with Dawn Ella Klingler. They were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on August 27, 1948. In 1949 Earl and Dawn took jobs as school- teachers in Hanapepe on the island of Kauai in the then-territory of Hawaii. Upon returning to the Mainland in 1951, Earl began employment with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where he worked until his retirement as a Deputy Area Director of Education in 1981. Earl was a member and leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in bishoprics and in many clerical capacities. He and Dawn served an LDS mission in Mexico City from mid 1985 to early 1987. Earl "Gramps" Webb is survived by his beloved wife Dawn, and his children Kimo (Angela), Wendy Gardner (Duane), Peter (Laurie), Tom (Alice), Charlotte Nebeker (Bill), Joel (Karen) and Lee (Craig Casper): by grandchildren Joshua, Cardon, Kim and Logan Webb; Allen, Laurel, Lee, Caroline, Clark, and Elizabeth Gardner; Burr, Courtney, McKay, Clay, Seth and Jed Webb; Ford, Katie, Porter, Ed, Hyrum and Parker Webb; Andrew, Cara and Thomas Nebeker; Aubrey, Matthew, Taylor, Natalie and Nickolas Webb: and by 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his cherished granddaughter Erin. Gramps had not only a green thumb, he had ten green digits. He loved to garden - to nurture things and help them grow. And he especially loved to give away the harvest. Earl had a remarkable gift for showing love and concern for others - most often displayed in quiet and thoughtful ways on a daily basis. A Memorial Service for Isaac Earl Webb will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 17, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel at 2807 19th Avenue SE, Rio Rancho, 87124. He will be laid to rest in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, Earl has requested donations be made to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund. French Mortuary 9300 Golf Course Rd.
