"Mary Estelle Campbell, age 84, of San Antonio and formerly of Coleman, died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, at Retama Manor North in San Antonio. Graveside services with Military Honors were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Dr. Dean Coultas officiating. Services were under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

"Mrs. Campbell was born October 21, 1916 in Santa Anna, a daughter of Barney Burleson, Sr. and Alta Flo Flippen Burleson and the granddaughter of Charles and Estelle Flippen. She grew up and attended schools in Coleman and graduated from Shannon Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and received her B.S.N. in Public Health Nursing from Incarnate Word University in San Antonio. She married Harry G. Campbell on August 15, 1952 in San Antonio. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1999. Mrs. Campbell joined the Navy as Lieutenant in 1944 and was stationed in California and Hawaii. After serving six years in the Navy, she received her teaching degree and taught in public schools during the 1960's, retiring in 1980.

"She is survived by one son, John B. Campbell of San Antonio; two grandchildren, Thomas and Ryan Campbell of San Antonio; two nephews, Micheal Burleson of Kingsland, Kelly Burleson of Austin; one niece, Andrea Burleson of Chicago, Illinois; one sister-in-law, Toni Bunleson of Kingsland; and numerous cousins.

"She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and one brother, Barney Bunleson, Jr. in 1998."
