"Joshua W. Stevenson
Joshua W. Stevenson died at his residence in this city Wednesday evening, March 14, 1917.

He was born in Warren county, Ohio, Dec. 7, 1843, and at the time of his death was aged 73 years 3 months and 7 days.

He moved to Missouri in the early settlement of this part of the country and lived one year southwest of town on the Dr. Hutt farm. At that time there was a great deal of open prairie and he opened up a new farm about ten miles northwest of town and lived there until a few years ago when he moved into Skidmore where he has since lived. Coming to this country in very straitened financial circumstances he worked hard and secured a fine farm.

He was in the civil war having served in the 36th Indiana Regiment.

He leaves a wife and one son, Geo. T., living on the home farm, two brothers, John A. living northwest of town in Atchison county and Geo. C. of San Francisco, also a half brother, James, living in Indiana.

Funeral services will be held at the M. E. church, Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. D. F. Harrison assisted by Revs. Reubin Barrett and W. H. Welton, after which the remains will be interred in the Masonic cemetery."
