One of the happiest and most enjoyable occasions of the season took place Saturday, December 7, 1935 at the beautiful home of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Mize at Ashland when the members of Hebron Church and their friends met to present a quilt that the Women's Auxiliary of the church had made to Rev. and Mrs. Alton H. Glasure of Union Point, Ga. The quilt, a very large and beautiful one, had more than 500 names of the members of the church and their friends embroidered on it.

At 12 o'clock all present gathered in the large living room for the presentation program, with Mrs. J.H. Mize, president of the Auxiliary presiding. First was a song,"all Hail the Power of Jesus Name", led by C.C. Neal with Mrs. M.W. Coker at the piano, followed with prayer by Rev. H.T. Foster, pastor of the church.

Mrs. J.H. Mize in her able and charming manner read a very appropriate and touching paper telling of Alton, and of his being admitted to the ministry at the Presbytery which met at his old home church (Hebron) just a few hundred yards from where he was born and reared which brought tears not only to Alton, but to several others in the audience. She then in a few well chosen words presented the quilt to Alton and Mrs. Glasure and in accepting it both made very sweet and touching talks telling how very much it was appreciated and how it would be treasured by them and handed down to Nancy Louise their infant daughter. Mr. Foster then made a short and very appropriate talk. After singing, "Blest Be the Tie That Binds", the closing prayer was offered by Alton. While the quilt was being inspected the large sliding doors were thrown open and all ushered into the beautifully decorated dining room where the table was actually piled high with good things to eat, but which can not be described, cooked by the best cooks in the state and arranged and served by the committee from the Auxiliary, who also poured hot coffee and chocolate. While all were enjoying the dinner we were entertained with a Christmas story by Louise Glasure, sister of Alton and a student of Piedmont College in Demorest.

After all had finished eating and "twelve baskets of fragments had been taken up," all retired to the living room and were entertained with music furnished by Mrs. Alton Glasure.

Not only Hebron Church, but this entire section of the state is proud of the record Alton is making and are happy to number him as one of our boys. At a late hour all left Mr. and Mrs. Mize's home feeling that we had had a good time and that the church and community ties had been more closely drawn.
