Mr. Garland was born August 16, 1866, hence was aged 70 years, 8 months and 7 days and was the son of Benjamin and Sarah Mellott Garland.
He was twice married, his first wife being Aura Mary Strait, who preceded him in death many years ago. Two children were born to this union who survive, Harrison, of Carlisle, Pa. And Blanche Clark, of Everett, Pa. His second wife was Catherine Truax, who survives with the following children: Elva, wife of Floyd Kline, Barbara, wife of Riley Kline, Grace and Jack, both at home. One daughter being deceased, also by the following brothers and sisters: Charles C., Elizabeth Garland and Jennie Mellott and one half-sister, Emma Mellott, all of Needmore, Pa., and by six grandchildren.
Mr. Garland was a farmer and lumberman, and will be missed in the home and community.
He was laid to rest in the cemetery at the Sideling Hill Christian Church on Sunday, April 25. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. E. Waltz, a life-long friend of the deceased.
