Funeral services for Louis C. Kunert, 89, formerly of route 6, Watertown, will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Pederson Funeral Home in Watertown with the Rev. Eric Schulze officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call to pay their respects at the funeral home Saturday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Kunert died Thursday morning at Marquardt Memorial Manor following a lingering illness. He was born May 28, 1896 in the town of Shields, son of Charles and Amanda [Amelia] Kunert. He married the former Ella Seibel Sep 10, 1919 in Richwood. She preceded him in death Sept. 7, 1984. He was a farmer all of his life in the town of Shields. He served in the 87th Infantry of the United States Army during World War I. Survivors include one son, George Sr (Leola) of Watertown, six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Kunert was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by one son, one great-grandson, his parents, one brother, one sister, six half sisters and three half brothers.
