Maranda M. Pitkin was born June 28, 1834 at Livonia, N. Y., and died at LaPorte July 10, 1909. She with her parents move to Brunswick, when she was 6 years of age. She was married to J. H. Gillman in 1854, who died in 1873, leaving 4 children, one daughter passed away. There are 3 living now; Miss May Gillman, Mrs. W. Prindle and P. Gillman. She was married to Mr. Henry Tripp in May 1876. She leaves one sister, Mrs. Harland Chapman, 3 brothers, M. V. B. Pitman of Chicago, George of Brunswick, William of LaPorte, also her husband, several nieces and nephews and a large circle of friends.

Mrs. Tripp was a very energetic woman, of good sound judgment, industrious, always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. She lived to a good old age. She died honored and respected by all who knew her and deeply mourned by her family. Her memory is blessed. She was one of the oldest members of the M. E. church at LaPorte. Services were held there by Rev. Bryington, of Brunswick, an old friend of the deceased.
