Olivia Kilpatrick was born about 1809 in Lenoir County, the eldest of 3 known surviving children (2 girls/1 born) born to planter Alexander J. Kilpatrick and his wife, Susannah Cobb. She was the maternal grandchild of Jesse Cobb St. and Elizabeth Heritage. Her father's lineage has not been confirmed by this researcher, but he is believed to be a descendant of/or related to William Kilpatrick Sr. (1736-1808) of Goochland, VA who removed to Lenoir County and married Chloe Coward.
Her mother died in 1818 when she was just 9 years old, and she was orphaned with her father's death which occurred before 1821.
Olivia was 20 years old when she married 26-year old physician, Reuben H. Knox in 1829, who was originally from Massachusetts. They would become parents to 5 known children (all sons):
* Joseph A. Knox (1830 - aft 1900)
* Dr. William A. Knox (1832 - aft 1900)
* Henry Elijah Knox, Esq. (1835 - aft 1900)
* Alexander Knox (1837-1841)
* Reuben Huntley Knox, Jr. (1834-1836).
Sadley, Olivia Kilpatrick Knox died in 1839 at the young age of 30. Her husband of 10 years would marry (2nd) to Elizabeth Heritage Washington, the widow of Richard Grist.
Olivia was buried near her mother and and brother in Colonial Cemetery in Kinston.
