Mrs. Janie Brewton Akins, 83, died Tuesday September 12, 2000 at her residence under the care of Hospice of Hinesville. The Evans County native had lived in Collins most of her life. She had retired from Reidsville High School as a food service employee after serving many years. She was a member of Reidsville Baptist Church and the Hattie Rountree Sunday School Class. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, W.J. Akins of Collins; four sons, Donald Akins of Reidsville, Fred Akins of Corpus Christi, Texas, Frank Akins of Ocoee, Florida, Benny Akins of Highland, California; one daughter, Betty Joyce Hill of Nashville, GA; one sister, Jessie B. Brown of Savannah; fourteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Friday September 15, 2000 at Reidsville Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Marion Patton. Interment will follow in Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers: Andy Akins, William Akins, Allen Akins, Scott Akins, Brian Akins, Barrett Hill Honorary Pallbearers: Tom Calvin, Dr. Jesse Scott, Caswell Yawn, Mike Gay, Dan Waller, Louis Eason, Leland Gregory, Lamar Smith, Harmon Thrift Bill Dickey, Bill Finley, Brantley Taylor, Louie Smith, Danny Harvey
