Vivian Hover was born in 1899 in Nebraska, the second child, and only son, of Charles Lincoln Hover and Bertha P. Ayer.

By the 1910 census, Vivian and his older sister Sylvia Hover were living with their mother and stepfather Develan Pearce whom their mother married in 1905.

A 1918 WW1 army registration card described Vivian as a student, 6 ft tall, of medium build, with brown eyes and black hair.

He died in 1919.
