F. E. Shaad Dies As He Slumbers
Lifelong Resident of Dolgeville Section Passes Suddenly
Dolgeville, October 30, ~ Frank E. Shaad, lifelong resident of this vicinity, was found dead in bed Wednesday morning at his home in the Lamphere district, in Salisbury about seven miles from this place. (blacked out line, he apparently died of heart problems.) Mr. Shadd was engaged in his customary pursuits Tuesday and gave no indication of being ill. He was well known having served at one time as supervisor of Statford and also as town clerk.
Mr. Shaad had conducted a saw mill for some time at his farm where he was alone at the time of his death. When the men went to work at the mill their employer did not appear. George Mclean investigated and found Mr. Shaad dead in his bed. He eveidently passed away in his sleep.
The deceased was born in Stratford December 22, 1862 and was the son of the late George and Christine Ernst Shaad. His life was mostly spent in farming and lumbering. At one time he conducted a stage route between Stratford and Dolgeville. He was a Democrate and it was as a member of that party that he was elected town supervisor and town clerk. He was a member of the borad of education of the Stratford Consolidated school district.
He married Miss Lillian McLean whose death occurred a number of years ago. Surviving are a daughter Miss Mabel Shaad who is a teacher in the Hopson school district in Salisbury; a son, Ernest, of Belleville, Jefferson county; a brother, George C. Shaad of Lawrence, Kansas; and two sisters, Miss Lena Shaad of Stratford and Mrs. Cameron, of Port Deposit, Maryland.
