John "Red" Amos, 85, of Syracuse died Wednesday at home.
Born in Syracuse , he attended Hotchkiss School in Connecticut and was a 1937 graduate of Yale University. He worked for his father at C.L. Amos Coal Co. and later was a businessman. He was a member of First English Lutheran Church and Liverpool- Syracuse F&AM Lodge 501, and a former member of the Century Club. He was involved with various charitable organizations.
Survivors: His wife, Alice M.; a daughter, Margaret A. Killory of Charlottesville, Va.; a son, John of Fabius; a brother, Alan of Syracuse ; five grandchildren.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday in First English Lutheran Church, Syracuse . Burial, Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours, 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fairchild & Meech DeWitt Chapel, 3690 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt.
