William Beverage one of the oldest citizens of Athens, died following protracted sickness, at the home here of his son Cush. Beverage, last Saturday, in his 85th year. He had been a resident of Athens county since his 12th year, when he came with his parents to Alexander township from Greenbrier county, Virginia. Up to the beginning of his fatal sickness he was remarkable for his abnormal physical and mental vigor. He lived a life of rectitude. His funeral services took place at the M. E. church, Monday afternoon, Rev. Cyrus Rose officiating. Interment in the old cemetery.
